There is also a high demand for x-ray and radiation therapy equipment such as planar x-ray machines, CTs or high-value components such as x-ray tubes and other equipment. A wide range of companies in all areas of medical technology are represented in Hessen. More than half of the sales are derived from products that are less than two years old.
The medical technology sector invests twice as much as comparable industrial segments. About 50% of all companies have their own research and development department. In addition, these medical technology companies maintain close ties to Hessen’s universities.
