The Frankfurt-Fechenheim site is the technology group´s international competence center for gas-insulated switchgears and looks back on a history of almost 40 years. According to Siemens, they are the only company in the world that develops, tests, and produces load and power switching technology at one location. For years, the plant has been experiencing steady growth of incoming orders and is working at its capacity limit. The additional production space allows the construction of a third assembly line for environmentally compatible medium-voltage switchgears.

The newly built intelligent and fully automated high-speed warehouse shall be completed by spring 2024. The facility will allow to provide pre-picked material just-in-time for the production lines, which makes the process even more efficient.

The expansion project is designed sustainably: The two new buildings will each have a green roof and a photovoltaic system.
