The opening of a new distribution center in Raunheim (Gross-Gerau) marks the establishment of online retailer Amazon’s third location in Hessen.

The online retailer Amazon has now officially opened the doors to its new distribution center in Raunheim-Mönchhof (Gross-Gerau). The company announced that the establishment of this third logistics location in Hessen comes in addition to the two existing logistics centers in Bad Hersfeld.

Amazon Logistics plans to use its new Raunheim distribution center to provide delivery service to several zip codes in the Rhine-Main region by involving delivery partners. This will lead to the creation of more than 130 jobs in the region according to the company. The distribution center, which measures 13,000 square meters (140,000 square feet) in area, was commissioned in October 2017.

“The opening of our sixth distribution center in Germany marks the continued expansion of our logistics network in Germany and Europe,” proclaimed Bernd Schwenger, Director at Amazon Logistics (Germany) at the opening ceremony. The mayor of Raunheim, Thomas Jühe, and the mayor of Kelsterbach, Manfred Ockel, both from the political party SPD, extended a warm welcome to Amazon in the region.
