The event entitled, “Environmental technologies in China and market opportunities for Hessen-based companies” will highlight opportunities for Hessian companies in the Chinese market. Make sure to pay us a visit!

Booming economic growth recorded in China in recent decades has given rise to heavy air, water, and ground pollution. The majority of Chinese cities now suffer from high levels of fine dust particles in the air. In addition, as a result of the poor water quality in Chinese rivers and lakes, approximately 280 million people in China have no choice but to use contaminated drinking water.

Environmental technology companies particularly in the areas of wastewater management, recycling, and renewable energies could employ their products, processes, and services to help tackle these challenges. The market potential for Hessen-based environmental and efficient technologies is enormous, especially in the international arena. For example, a GreenTech study conducted by the German Federal Environment Ministry predicts that the global market volume for environmental technologies will exhibit 6.6% growth between 2013 and 2025 and more than double during this period. Researchers at Beijing Normal University anticipate annual growth rates of over 21% in the market for environmental technologies between China and the EU, with the trade volume rising from around €2.8 billion in 1996 to €42.4 billion in 2012.

The Chinese market is not easy to navigate, however. Obstacles making it difficult to enter the market (especially for small and medium-sized companies), legal uncertainty, cross-cultural differences, and the issue of the protection of intellectual property rights have created formidable problems for companies.

Hessen Trade & Invest GmbH assists Hessen-based companies in gaining a foothold in new markets and in strengthening their competitive edge by means of organizing events, trade fair booths, efficient technology transfer, and consultation on support and subsidies available to businesses operating in Hessen. The event entitled, “Environmental technologies in China and market opportunities for Hessen-based companies,” which is set to be held on June 8 in in cooperation with the China Competence Center of the Frankfurt Chamber of Industry and Commerce, will focus on the provision of these services.
