CargoCity at the Frankfurt Airport is the number one location for product and freight management, and is an important hub in the global logistic network. About 300 logistics companies are located in Cargo City, including global players such as DHL Global Forwarding and Federal Express. Located in close proximity are the package service centers of Deutsche Post, German Parcel and System Plus. Major freight forwarding companies such as Emery Worldwide, GK, Danzas, Panalpina, Kühne & Nagel and Schenker International are also located in Hessen.
North Hessen has also developed into a location of choice for logistics and distribution. Logistic companies profit from the late "cut-off-time". Nowhere else in Germany can packages be accepted so late and then delivered on-time, next day at a guaranteed time. This competitive advantage is used by numerous companies such as GLS, Amazon, Libri and Volkswagen.
Experts from business, government and research are keenly focused on developing intermodal technology. Numerous innovative ideas, which are being implemented by logistics companies, have been developed by researchers at the Technical University in Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt). The faculty for business management and logistics works closely together with numerous German companies.
The research institute "House of Logistics and Mobility" is located directly at the Frankfurt Airport and is closely networked with business and academic institutions.
