Frankfurt is a leading European financial and trade center, creating ideal conditions for international business. About 200 banks from over 30 countries are based here and conduct international business. Both the German Bundesbank and the European Central Bank have their headquarters in Frankfurt.
A Hub for Global Players
In 2017, more than 173 new foreign investments came to Hessen, including 44 from the USA, 23 from China, 19 from Japan, followed by India with 13 settlements , Great Britain (12), the Netherlands (11) and France (9). Hessen exported goods valued at €62,3 billion in 2017, and despite the difficult global economic conditions, maintained the same level as the previous year. Imports to Hessen reached a volume of €93.5 billion, which represented an increase of 8.5 %.
