Hessen‘s State Secretary for Economic Affairs Mathias Samson has called upon companies to face up to the challenges of digitalization: “Products are increasingly being supplemented or replaced by Internet services. This offers significant opportunities, but also threatens traditional business models,” said Samson in Frankfurt at a reception for participants of Germany’s first study program that trains executives for designing the digital transformation in companies.

“Digitalization is changing the economy and society in a lasting way,” said the State Secretary. “Hessen endeavors to shape this radical change, so everybody can benefit from it. The new study program uniquely qualifies graduates for such transformation processes. It is a specific example of how the state establishes the basic conditions for the digital transformation with its Digital Hessen strategy.”

The Master’s (MBA) degree study program in Digital Transformation Management of the Goethe Business School was created in collaboration with the Darmstadt House of IT, whose committee is headed by Samson. The course of studies is designed for persons who wish to continue to work and lasts four semesters. Applicants must prove a previous academic degree qualifying them for professional employment, several years of subsequent professional experience and adequate knowledge of English.
