New section at the IAA Cars in Frankfurt am Main
The new exhibition section entitled “New Mobility World” at the approaching International Motor Show (IAA) Cars in Frankfurt am Main will present the most important developments and innovations in the ever-changing world of mobility. On a total area of 30,000 square meters – including Hall 3.1 and the 12,000 square-meter outdoor circuit – the new exhibition concept will be built around the five themes of the Connected Car, Automated Driving, E-Mobility, Urban Mobility and Mobility Services. Matthias Wissmann, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), stressed, “With the New Mobility World the VDA, as organizer of the IAA, is creating a new platform that puts the focus on people with their changing individual mobility needs.”
In the New Mobility World, visitors to the IAA can experience the most important topics and trends in mobility. As well as the automotive industry, companies such as Google, Deutsche Telekom and Samsung will display their contributions to the mobility of the future. As all areas of life become digitized and society becomes more connected, completely new possibilities emerge for individual mobility.
Alongside a large number of technology firms, service providers such as Allianz Global Automotive and the parking management company APCOA will be exhibiting their mobility solutions. Topics like car-pooling, concierge services and new limousine services reflect the changing approaches to mobility. The challenges of this growing business sector will be discussed at the New Mobility World with high-caliber representatives from politics, business and academia.
Urban mobility – one of the most important challenges of the coming decades – will have its own dedicated themed section. New solutions such as efficient traffic flow control, quicker ways of finding a parking spot and functional intermodality will be presented by global market leaders and innovative newcomers. Of course, electric mobility also plays a major role in this context. Zero-emissions traffic is a requirement for future mobility concepts, and not only in towns and cities.
Automotive OEMs and their suppliers will showcase the state of the art concerning connected cars and the developments toward automated driving. In addition, the “Startup Zone” will illustrate which innovations are emerging outside the development departments of the major corporations. Here business start-ups will have an opportunity to present their ideas and innovations at the IAA for the first time and to intensify their contacts with the automotive industry. An extensive outdoor section will invite trade show visitors to experience the innovations for themselves. Displays covering an area of 12,000 square meters will illustrate the current state of developments in electric mobility, driver assistance systems and connected cars. A circuit where visitors can try out two and three-wheelers will complete the wide-ranging program.
